Picnics And Candles

As the weather goes through various changes, we feel like we need to get creative in our activities.  One of the most fun things to do is to go on a picnic.  Now the weather will dictate to you as the whether it will be an indoor or an outdoor picnic.

I think I feel this way because, when I was growing up in Southern California, mom and dad would take us all to the coast to meet 2 or 3 other families to have a beach party!  Sometimes, when the evenings were warm, the beach party would go through the week-end.  We always had so much fun!

Planning a day picnic is fun and easy as we all have our favorite picnic fare that we like to bring!

I particularly enjoy an early evening picnic, while it’s still a little light out.  Now this picnic is intended to de-stress after a bad day and add a bit of romance to the evening.  Along with the brie, baguette, dark chocolates, red wine and a variety of hors d’oeuvres I would include some candles, a comfy blanket and of course music.

I like to use a red or white pillar candle in a jar that has a lid.  I also like to include some white tea lights with small barrel holders.  That way the candles are protected from the wind that may waft through. These picnic ideas could also be used if you were going to an outdoor concert or play.

Now of course, if you are planning an indoor picnic, spread that blanket out in front of your fireplace or make a display of candles to add the warm glow of a fireplace.  Throw some big pillows around and put on some calming music. Serve up your favorite picnic items along with some red wine and dark chocolates!  And there you have it, a great stress reliever of a picnic!  Have fun!

When using regular candles, as always, there is a safety factor to remember and that would be to not place lit candles next to anything flammable or leave your lit candles unattended.
